Dear Colleagues,

It is our pleasure to invite you to attend the 15th Australasian Plant Breeding Conference, to be held at the Novotel Hotel, St. Kilda in Melbourne, Australia from 26th - 29th October 2014.

The theme of the conference is Accelerating Genetic Gain for Future Crop Improvement, reflecting the opportunities that are being delivered by dramatic developments in enabling technologies (such as genomics, high-throughput phenomics and computational analysis) and their implementation. Australia, New Zealand and neighbouring countries enjoy a vibrant plant breeding community, providing high quality produce for local and international markets, as well as knowledge and training for the developing world. Constant innovation within the relevant crop industries will ensure efficiency, sustainability and competitive pricing. Detailed discussions of pre-breeding and breeding science are therefore very timely.

The APBC conference will cover themes in crop breeding including:

  • Genetic Resources and Novel Species
  • Overcoming Abiotic Stresses
  • Overcoming Biotic Stresses
  • Breeding for New Environments and Production Systems
  • Australasia’s Partnerships in International Breeding Programs
  • New Technologies for Accelerated Breeding

We look forward to seeing you in Melbourne for a most informative and enjoyable conference.

 Yours sincerely
